My name is Karma Terlik! I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of San Diego. I am originally from Austin, Texas but have been living in beautiful San Diego, California for 3 years now. I am currently working as a research scholar at the university, but also work as a teaching assistant and peer tutor during the semester.
Ever since 5th grade, I have dreamed of having a career in the sciences, but of course, the specifics changed over the years. It started with wanting to be an astronaut, then a forensic anthropologist, then a doctor, and finally, a researcher, Knowing this, it makes sense that I am majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry. However, I am also minoring in Asian Studies as I am interested in learning about the cultural, religious, and historical practices of areas not often told to American students. Through this interest I studied Japanese for two years and even studied abroad for one month in Japan. Even though I have loved getting to explore other parts of the world through travel and classes, my main curiosity for learning will always remain with that of the sciences, especially ecological and botanical science.
My love for plants extends past the classroom and the lab as I am an avid house plant mom, hiker, and camper. I am also someone who loves a good book, my favorite being The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, and writing poems on Sunday mornings.
As most of us, I am unsure about my future, but I do know that I want to spend my life doing things I am passionate about, like protecting plant species and the vast habitats that make our planet so special.
